I first discovered this band when they played Newport Folk this past summer…and I’m thrilled to see a live session with them on Daytrotter. It sounds flippin’ fantastic. Lots of members in this band create a really full and gorgeous sound, but I think ultimately I’ve fallen in love with singer Kyle Morton’s voice.

Typhoon – “The Sickness Unto Death”/”The Honest Truth”
This 16-member Portland-based collaborative will hit the stage at Newport Folk this summer, and after checking out some of their music, I’m really looking forward to it! They’ve got an experimental pop sound that’s super engaging and I also really appreciate the thoughtful lyrics and sometimes tender moments in their tunes. Check out this NPR Tiny Desk Concert they did at SXSW this year…
