Best Of ’10: Arcade Fire

Arcade Fire – The Suburbs

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend… I know I did! I had some time to listen more closely to the latest Arcade Fire album. I will admit, I’m just not as WILD about it as a lot of people I know. Don’t get me wrong, it’s SOLID, and I’m sure I’ll love it even more the more I listen. It just wasn’t one of the albums that really grabbed me and held on this year. But it should definitely be on the radar when I finalize my Top 25 list… it’ll be posted within the next few days!

Favorite tracks: “Ready To Start”, “Modern Man”, “We Used To Wait”

Arcade Fire – “Modern Man”

Lately I’ve been hearing tunes that guide me back to an album I overlooked when it first came out. I heard nothing but good things about the new Arcade Fire album, but I’ve yet to give it enough of a listen. LOVE this song I just heard recently… and I’ll be getting caught up with The Suburbs pronto.

NEW Music Preview

Bettye Lavette has been making records since 1962 and in the past 5 years she’s finally been getting the attention she deserves. Her new album of cover songs is simply stunning. Arcade Fire will soon release the long-awaited follow-up to Neon Bible (2007) and it sounds quite promising. Chris Thile (Nickel Creek) is onto something special with his ‘beyond bluegrass’ band, the Punch Brothers. And it sounds like The Weepies will put out more contagious, thought-provoking pop/folk later this summer. Listen to clips of all four artists:
