“Brill Bruisers”
Brill Bruisers is probably the album I’m most excited about this year. Neko Case, A.C. Newman, Dan Bejar, Kathryn Calder and friends are the band The New Pornographers – one of those bands that I want to tell everyone about. I don’t know what it is about Canadian musicians but I just dig em the most! The title track to this album sounds FLIPPING PHENOMENAL and I’m dying to hear more:

The New Pornographers – “Moves”
The latest album from The New Pornographers – Together – was one of my favorite albums of 2010. This is a pretty wacky video, but the song is one of my favorites from that album. Comedian Tom Scharpling wrote and directed, while a slew of other actors/comedians portrayed members of the band doing a spoof on “the Rise and Rise of the New Pornographers”. Check it out:

The New Pornographers – Together
I’m starting to gather my thoughts about the best music of 2010. While this album may not necessarily be my #1, it IS the first that comes to mind. The New Pornographers delivered more exceptionally crafted songs on this record and I remember listening in my car over and over again. I loved how it made me feel like I was going somewhere important or I was on a mission. There are many a solid tune on this album and it’s sure to be high on my list.
Favorite tracks: “Crash Years”, “Sweet Talk”, “We End Up Together”

The New Pornographers – Together
I’ve had this album in my car stereo for the past week, and living on a small island, I don’t drive very far. Each time I listen, I’ve been hearing 2 or 3 songs at a time, but it works SO WELL on the road! Each song makes me feel like I’m on some grand adventure… like I’m traveling somewhere incredibly exciting (not to the post office!).
The New Pornographers continue to release outstanding, unique material with their sixth album, Together. From the first epic guitar strokes of “Moves”, to the cool, calm intro of “We End Up Together”, I’m in awe of the brilliant composition of each and every track.

There’s been a surplus of great new music lately! I can’t wait to hear more from The New Pornographers…their forthcoming album, Together comes complete with guest appearances from St. Vincent and Beirut. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals will release a new record in June. These rising stars out of Vermont were recently named one of the best new bands of 2010 by Rolling Stone magazine. I’ve also been diggin’ the new album from the incredibly SOULFUL Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings. And just in time to be our summer soundtrack, Jack Johnson’s To The Sea, comes out in June.
