“This Is The Last Time”
I’ve been revisiting the latest album from The National for the past few days. If you haven’t listened to Trouble Will Find Me, it’s definitely work checking out…and it’s got a neat vibe for this time of year. Track #7 really beautifully describes the concept of returning to someone (or something) that’s less than healthy for you…something I think everyone can relate to.
“Oh, when I lift you up you feel
like a hundred times yourself.
I wish everybody knew
what’s so great about you. Oh,
but your love is such a swamp.
You don’t think before you jump,
and I said I wouldn’t get sucked in…
This is the last time.”
New music from The National is on the way…Trouble Will Find Me comes out at the end of May and this is the single from the album. Like most of their material, it’s deep and dark with gorgeous layers of sound. Beautiful video too:
The National – “Think You Can Wait”
I was just checking out the movie, Win Win the other day… I had seen the trailer before some movie I watched recently and I was interested in seeing it. It looks like a good story, and Paul Giamatti is a great actor. So the band,The National apparently wrote a song for the movie, and this video was released yesterday with some footage of the film being shot edited in. It’s interesting to see in the comments how many people are really disturbed by the edits in the video… I’d agree that it’s not the best choice, but I think you still get a pretty clear sense of the song and the film.
The National – “Bloodbuzz Ohio”
For the past few days I’ve been listening to High Violet, the new album from The National… but just in my car. I don’t drive very far each day, so I’ve yet to decide how much I enjoy the album as a whole. Usually it takes a ferry ride to give an album a thorough listen :) So far, this single still stands apart from the rest:
