NEW: St. Vincent

“Digital Witness”

“people turn the TV on it looks just like a window”

What a statement from Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent). This new single has the horns, drums and subtle distortion of sound that’s become signature of this former Berklee School of Music student from Texas (she didn’t graduated, obviously). I love the one of a kind synth-rock that she’s been producing on her last few albums.

Oh, and I love the wonderfully eerie video:

P.S. I also can’t help but think of Clark’s earlier sound – her evolution as an artist has been incredible to watch. It reminds me of the way Feist or Norah Jones really pushed their sound to new, edgier levels —

“Who”

I think there were a lot of folks looking forward to this collaboration and in my opinion, Love This Giant does not disappoint. It’s just as layered, odd, and provocative as I thought it would be. As is this video for the single “Who”:

St. Vincent – “Cruel”

Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I’m SO excited for the new St. Vincent album, Strange Mercy, coming out September 12th. I had heard one other tune (“Surgeon”), which I liked, but I LOVE this newly released single and the video is absolutely awesome! It’s so creepy and brilliant…it had my full attention from start to finish. Annie Clark is stunning – her appearance AND her sound. She continues to make some of the most original music I’ve ever heard. Check it out:
