“Stronger Than That”
The new album from Afie Jurvanen (aka Bahamas) is dynamite. I’ve been listening to it again and again in my car and I just secured tickets for the show in Boston on Saturday at Great Scott. I saw Bahamas live once before at an outdoor festival so I’m excited to experience the sound in an intimate bar-like venue.
Top to bottom, the album’s tracks are solid but I’m especially impressed by the single. “Stronger Than That” feels fun and catchy with it’s horns, electric guitar and backing vocals. Can’t wait to hear it live!
The new Counting Crows album comes out September 2nd and this is the single. I would have never called myself a big Counting Crows fan, but this song is killer! It’s catchy and fun and I’m excited to hear the rest of the album…
“Cherry Wine” [LIVE]
Alright, I’ve caught up on sleep and had a bit of time to process everything I experienced at the Newport Folk Festival last weekend. What an incredible three days of music it was!
I hadn’t heard the Irish musician known as Hozier before Newport and WOW, he’s amazing. Check this out, it’s easy to hear in this live performance…his voice is quite intoxicating:
Been loving this new single from Spoon…
“Heart Is A Drum”
Been loving this track from Beck’s latest album and it’s got such a perfect vibe for this cloudy, misty morning.
“All The Time”
I’m so so excited for a new album from Canadian musician Afie Jurvanen aka Bahamas. The album, Bahamas Is Afie, will be out late August. “All The Time” is a dynamic track with a lot of fuzzy guitar sounds and a delightful hook… can’t wait to get my hands on the entire album! Bahamas will play Great Scott in Allston on September 13th.
I’m completely floored by this track. Robert Plant has managed to maintain what makes him legendary while sounding very contemporary. This could be a Radiohead track… you hear it? Man, it’s so killer. I’m psyched to hear more from the album, Lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar, out in August.
