“The Tattoed Lady and the Alligator Man”
Ok, this tune is slightly out of my wheelhouse. My boss was quite surprised to hear that I loved it…but how can I resist?! The silly story combined with the killer old timey piano is so much FUN! I’ve always thought Marcia Ball kicked some serious ass. Try to keep still while listening to this one… not easy!
Love love LOVING the latest Ray LaMontagne single…even more than the lead single (and title track) from his new album Supernova. Fittingly, “Drive-in Movies” has this beautiful throwback sound with a catchy hook and killer guitar riff:
“Higher and Higher” [featuring JJ Grey]
Have you heard this new Galactic single? Simply put – it kicks ass! So much raw energy in this track…check it out:
“I Got You”
I’ve never disliked a song from the master of feel-good, Jack Johnson, but I wouldn’t say I liked the latest single when I first heard it. It took me many a listen to really enjoy this one, but now I love it…the guitar work is beautiful and it’s somewhat impossible not to sing along. Oh, and could the music video be any more adorable? I think not:
Jack Johnson headlines the LIFE IS GOOD festival September 21st and 22nd in Canton, MA…don’t miss this fest!
Another new single from Dr. Dog! I’m really digging on the sound here and I’m full on giddy about getting the new album in my hands – it’ll be out 10/1!
Have you heard this new Neko Case single? When I first heard it, I thought it was really strange. Not the lyrics (that’s a whole other story), but the sound of the track. It sounded frantic to me. The other day, I said to my boss – “We’re playing the new Neko Case single? I think it’s weird!” and his response was “Neko Case IS weird!”
“I Will Wait”
On the first few listens, I wasn’t completely floored by this new Mumford & Sons single. But then it really started to sink in. Then I started to turn it up REALLY LOUD. This is the kind of tune that grabs my heart and takes it to new heights for 5 minutes.
