The Chapin Sisters – “Let Me Go”
Two of the Chapin sisters backed She & Him when I saw them a few weeks ago at the Nateva Festival. Their harmonies were right on and added so much to the tone of Zooey Deshanel’s voice. I recently checked out some of their own music and I love it! It’s got a dark and sometimes haunting quality…very different from the feel-good music of She & Him. Check out this tune, “Let Me Go” from the sisters’ Oh, Hear The Wind Blow EP:

Wow. What a weekend! I decided to spend an extra day at the Nateva Festival, doubling the amount of incredible music I was able to see. I arrived home late last night with my ears ringing… extremely dirty from camping and even more exhausted. I’m still processing the experience, and I hope to write in detail about my favorite acts within the next few days. What I can say now is that I was extremely impressed with the entire operation of this first-year festival. The location was beautiful, the weather was pristine, and the overall vibe, in a word, was peaceful. And not to mention the all-star lineup of bands that drew me to the fest in the first place!
Posts about She & Him, Grizzly Bear, Flaming Lips, Nate Wilson Group, and Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks coming soon…
Somehow, things worked out quite well for this weekend. ‘Quite well’ is really an understatement… the planets aligned! Everything fell into place! Between work coverage and the logistics of getting around Cape traffic, I’ve managed to find a way to make it up to the Nateva Festival in Oxford, ME! This is the first year of the festival, and it’s got an incredible lineup. It looks like I’ll be getting there late tonight and I can’t wait to catch a bunch of great acts tomorrow! Here’s who I’m most looking forward to:
Ryan Montbleau Band
John Brown’s Body
She & Him
So I’ll be taking a little blog break this weekend… absorbing all of this incredible music. I hope you have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend, whatever you end up doing. I’ll be posting on Monday to tell you all about Nateva!
