Tonight at 9PM on mvyradio, I’ll feature a set from The Milk Carton Kids as our mvy LIVE. Listen in to hear their performance from Newport Folk 2013 where they completely won me over with their incredible music and hilarious on stage banter.
I’ve been checking out all the live videos I can find from these two since I saw them this summer. Check out their dynamite performance on Conan:
LISTEN IN tonight at 9PM for an entire live set from The Milk Carton Kids!
Tonight on mvyradio, I’ll feature Laura Marling’s album Once I Was An Eagle in its entirety. I have to say, I’ve not heard such a beautiful album in a very very long time. Sitting and listening to this record while reading the lyrics, I went through so many emotions and came close to tears many times. It’s an incredibly powerful piece of art, and I hope you can join me to listen at 9PM – mvyradio.com
We are beyond excited to welcome Laura Marling to the Vineyard for a Friends Of mvyradio benefit performance – Sunday, September 1st at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center. Get your tickets here – FriendsOfmvyradio.org
“Pour A Little Poison”
Every once in a while, there will be a undeniably catchy tune added to rotation at mvyradio. This is the latest. Doesn’t really matter what he’s saying (it did take me a minute to figure it out…), it’s just one hell of a fun tune!
“Think I’m In Love”
It’s been a hectic week at mvyradio as we prepare to cover the Newport Folk Festival…and the weekend is guaranteed to be a busy one. This may be my last blog post for a few days. I’d like to think I might be posting from the fest, but from past experience, I can guess I won’t have the energy. What I WILL be doing is covering the festival on mvyradio’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, so make sure to follow and like those pages so get the lowdown.
I think the biggest surprise of this year’s lineup was Beck and I’m extremely excited to catch his set! What’s nice is that he’s the final performer on Sunday…and I’m already envisioning me, PJ and Barbara, standing together watching him. We’ll be blurry-eyed and a little delirious after a sure to be unforgettable weekend at the Fort.

The more I listen to the latest Iron & Wine release, the more I love it. This song is so playful and beautiful and the music video is a work of art that really adds to the experience:
Hear the entire new Iron & Wine album, Ghost On Ghost, TONIGHT at 9PM – it’s mvyradio’s album of the week!
Iron & Wine
We’ve been playing this single at mvyradio and it’s really been growing on me as I hear it more and more. There’s a lightness to it that’s perfect for summer. Today I checked out the music video and I’m so glad I did! It’s extremely cute and funny…makes me want to dig deeper into this Austin-based band’s catalog.
“You Never Need Nobody”
We recently started playing this song on mvyradio and it immediately caught my ear. The Lone Bellow is a trio based in Brooklyn who harmonize beautifully. Zach Williams is the primary songwriter, and it’s clear he connects passionately with the words he has written. After listening to this group perform live, I’m not surprised they were one of the first artists announced for the upcoming Newport Folk Festival.
