I took a short break from listening to the new Vampire Weekend album nonstop but now I’m back to it. Each and every track on this CD has gotten to me in some way. This track is tucked away towards the very end of the album and its lyrics have really stood out to me lately.
“Over and over again
All these never-ending visions
Over and over again
Like a prize that’s changing hands
The time has come
The clock is such a drag
All you who change your stripes
Can wrap me in the flag
The lines are drawn
The map is such a drag
All you who change your stripes can wrap me in the flag”
I’m truly, deeply obsessed with the new Vampire Weekend album, Modern Vampires of the City. I have listened again and again and again and I’m not even close to tired of it. It’ll likely be the soundtrack to my summer.
This is a song hidden towards the end of the album – track 10 (of 12). It’s one of the more strange tracks, with some inaudible lyrics and bizarre sounds. But it’s so catchy! It’s one of my favorites:
I’m a big fan of Vampire Weekend and their new album is sounding awesome. Officially released on May 7th, Modern Vampires of the City is shaping up to be the most dynamic album yet from this young Brooklyn band. They recently debuted the radio single for the album and it remains to be seen if this will fit into the mix at mvyradio . It’s certainly engaging and upbeat from start to finish…but it’s slightly frantic at some moments. These tough decisions are left to our Music Director, PJ Finn…I suspect we may hear from him on this very subject soon!
