SONG: The Wallflowers

“Reboot the Mission”

Mick Jones from The Clash is featured on this new single from The Wallflowers. I had heard the band was putting out another album, but I guess I never expected it to sound SO different! I can’t wait to hear more from Glad All Over which will be out in September. You gotta wonder if it will all be this funky:

Courtyard Hounds feat. Jakob Dylan – “See You In the Spring”

This is one of those songs that totally snuck up on me. Courtyard Hounds is a side project featuring two of the three Dixie Chicks. I’m telling you right now, I would never consider myself a fan of the music that the Dixie Chicks put out. But there’s something about Courtyard Hounds that I like… especially combined with Jakob Dylan for this cute, sweet tune:

Jakob Dylan – “Nothing But The Whole Wide World”

I really like this single from Jakob Dylan’s new solo album, Women And Country. My co-worker thinks it’s pretty boring… and I’ll admit, not much goes on in the tune, but I just enjoy it for some reason. It’s sort of calming. Here’s a live version of the tune from Rolling Stone with Kelly Hogan and Neko Case on backing vocals:

NEW Music Preview

I tracked through a gigantic pile of new music this week, and now I bring you short clips of my four favorites. The Bird and the Bee brilliantly cover Hall & Oates while Scottish group, Frightened Rabbit does not disappoint with their third studio album. I continue to enjoy Jakob Dylan’s mellow solo material and Dr. Dog still delights me with their Beatle-esque sound.

Artists featured in this NEW Music Preview:
The Bird and the Bee
Frightened Rabbit
Jakob Dylan
Dr. Dog
