David Byrne & Fatboy Slim – “Please Don’t”

I was extremely intrigued when I first heard about David Byrne’s new project with Fatboy Slim. On April 6th, they’re putting out an album called Here Lies Love. Every track has a guest vocalist (Sia, Tori Amos, Martha Wainwright, Sharon Jones…) and the entire album tells the story of Imelda Marcos (former 1st lady of the Phillipines) with danceable beats. I instantly liked the catchy single, “Please Don’t” (featuring Santigold on vocals), and today I got the music video for it in my inbox:

“Here’s the video for the Santigold track “Please Don’t.” We did a photo session for a magazine the other day, and I told the interviewer that on this song, by the time you get to the chorus, she owns it — she’s turned it into a Santigold song. Perfect.

There are six of these videos that have been completed for this project. Most, like this one, use news and archival footage to, well, show that every word of the song is true!”
