LYRICS: Andrew Bird

“Eyeoneye”

I think this is one of those tracks where the music and melody are at the forefront of the listening experience. They were for me at least. It took me dozens of listens to REALLY pay attention the the lyrics of this song and when I did, they really struck me…

“Go ahead and congratulate yourself
Give yourself a hand, the hand is yours
When the eye that eyes itself is your eye
And the ear that hears itself is too
And you’re getting too close
You’re getting too close
You’re getting too close to your source

You’ve done the impossible now
Took yourself apart
Made yourself invulnerable
No one can break your heart
So you break it yourself

Bringing your own, break it yourself…

Go ahead and re-ionize yourself
Give yourself a hand, the hand is yours
And you go ahead and wring it out
Go ahead and stretch it out
Go ahead and wear it inside out”

SONG: Andrew Bird

“Desperation Breeds”

The new Andrew Bird album has 14 amazing tracks and I’ve been trying to give each one my full attention. Track #1 really starts things off strong and sets a tone for the rest. If you like this, listen to Break It Yourself in its entirety when I play it tonight at 9PM on mvyradio’s Album Of the Week!

SONG: Andrew Bird

“Danse Caribe”

I haven’t given the new Andrew Bird album, Break It Yourself, more than a few listens so I’m getting into it now. In the car, I only listen to a song or two at a time since I’m never going too far on this little island, so I can’t wait until I can sit with this CD and really listen quietly from start to finish. So far, I’m astounded by the beauty of this song, track #3…I can’t stop replaying it on my short drives.
