About Jess

41099650_763460774003282_2587577513618178048_nMy name is Jess Phaneuf. I’m a graduate of Emerson College in Boston where I majored in Broadcast Journalism and minored in Photography. While at Emerson, I worked for WERS 88.9FM and fell in love with radio! In September of 2008, I accepted a full-time job at mvyradio on Martha’s Vineyard where I worked and lived for 7 years. Beyond my roles at mvy, I was actively involved in the Martha’s Vineyard music and arts scene…booking/promoting shows and events and starting an independent graphic design/social media business. In November 2015, I took an on-air position at WUMB in Boston, excited to reach a wider audience and return to the city where it all began! I was on-air evenings, then afternoons, then middays on WUMB, and while in the city, I snagged a challenging (and FUN) job at the legendary Club Passim. As Outreach Coordinator at Passim, I organized and executed 40 outdoor concerts across the summer, and led a planning committee and volunteer team to organize and execute the 15th anniversary of the Boston Celtic Music Festival. At BCMFest 2018, 170 musicians played across 4 days and 3 venues – a proud professional moment!  After the hustle in Boston, I was looking to get back to full-time status in radio, and the stars aligned. In January, 2018, I returned to Martha’s Vineyard, as Music Director of mvyradio!
