J.D. McPherson’s new album, Signs and Signifiers, was recorded with vintage equipment into a 1960′s 1/4″ tape machine. The resulting sound is incredibly pleasant to listen to and it’s surprising, to say the least. My boss put it best when he said – it’s hard to believe you’re listening to a track from 2012, sung by a guy in his 20s:
