SONG: The Slide Brothers

“Don’t Keep Me Wonderin”

Robert Randolph & The Slide Brothers absolutely kill this classic Allman Brothers tune…smokin!

SONG: Daft Punk

“Get Lucky”

Well, I’m a little late to the Daft Punk party (their new album, Random Access Memories came out about a month ago), but man, the party is FUN and it lasts all night! My sister played some tracks for me this past weekend and I’m totally hooked! Here’s the single, “Get Lucky” with vocals from Pharrell Williams:

SONG: Neko Case

“Man”

Have you heard this new Neko Case single? When I first heard it, I thought it was really strange. Not the lyrics (that’s a whole other story), but the sound of the track. It sounded frantic to me. The other day, I said to my boss – “We’re playing the new Neko Case single? I think it’s weird!” and his response was “Neko Case IS weird!”

…touche.

SONG: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

“Better Days”

This is a great new tune and hilarious music video from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Their new self-titled album comes out on June 23rd.

SONG: Ingrid Michaelson

“Be OK”

As a big fan of Ingrid Michaelson, I’m not really sure how I had missed this song until recently. The album (also called Be OK), was released in 2008 between Girls and Boys (2006) and Everybody (2009). It includes some previously unreleased tracks, live cuts and covers. Like a lot of her songs, this one shines through its simplicity. Sometimes all you need is a catchy tune with lyrics that we can all relate to:

SONG: Vampire Weekend

“Ya Hey”

I’m truly, deeply obsessed with the new Vampire Weekend album, Modern Vampires of the City. I have listened again and again and again and I’m not even close to tired of it. It’ll likely be the soundtrack to my summer.

This is a song hidden towards the end of the album – track 10 (of 12). It’s one of the more strange tracks, with some inaudible lyrics and bizarre sounds. But it’s so catchy! It’s one of my favorites:

“1901″

I like a lot of what I hear from this French band, especially this particular tune that keeps popping up while I’m listening to my favorite stations on Pandora…neat video too:

SONG: The Boxer Rebellion

“Low”

I’m pretty surprised at how much I like the latest album from The Boxer Rebellion. All in all, Promises has a really nice sound to it…a mix of electronic and pop that’s not too edgy but more ethereal. This is my favorite track on the album at first listen:

“Your voice is weary
So disconnected
With nothing more to give than all you got
You’ve every reason but no reasoning
To feel so far behind and at a loss
So don’t be low
Don’t be low”
