Song Of The Day

 John
Have you heard of John Vanderslice?

For a long time I was hooked on his 2007 album, Emerald City. Today I took a bus ride and revisited the album after scanning through my iPod. I love every track, but today I actually got chills listening to the song, “White Dove”.

Vanderslice has some really dark themes to his music. This song is no exception.

“I met my new neighbor
Had a drink on her veranda
And watched the ocean batter Bonita Point

Do you have any children?”
The air around us changed
As grief washed across her face

White dove, white dove
White dove, white dove
What are you thinking of?

We had a daughter
Disappeared at eight
We gave them money
All we could do was wait
She’s found
Garroted, bound.

White dove, white dove
White dove, white dove
What are you thinking of?”
